 Abstract:
Homogenous mixtures of Gadolinium doped ceria (GDC) and La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 (LSCF6428) nanopowders were successfully synthesized using radio frequency (RF) induction plasma with solution spraying method. Two kinds of powders with different mass ratio of GDC/LSCF, such as 3/7 and 6/4, were obtained. The crystallinity and morphological features of the powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electronic microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The particles are almost globular in shape with the size within 100nm and the BET specific areas around 20m2/g. In addition, suspensions made of the composite nanopower with ethanol were used to deposit some cathode coatings through suspension plasma spray method. Several initial results of the coatings are also presented. The coatings are homogeneous and porous, which can be expected to have larger triple phase boundaries because of the fine nanoscale and homogeneous distribution of the nanoparticle mixture material.
