Effect of the nitrogen flow on the microstructure and transformation rate of TiN coatings in reactive plasma spraying

 Abstract:
TiN coatings and some grains of TiN were prepared by reactive plasma spraying in different nitrogen flow, at the same time keeping all other parameters invariablenes. The microstructure of the TiN coatings and grains were analyzed by means of SEM and the rate of TiN coating was tested by XRD. The results show that the microstructure and transformation rate of TiN coatings are greatly affected by nitrogen flow. The microstructure and transformation rate of TiN coatings were the best when the nitrogen flow was 1500L/h.
