 Abstract:
Hydoroxyapatite coating generally done by plasma spray process to achieved the desired results. The present work explore the use of Rod Flame Spray HA Process to coat biological grade Ti-6Al-4V with homogeneous coating.
Hydorxyapatite Rod Flame spray shows the better results as compared to plamsa spray process. In micro structure no unmelted particle was found in the coating. With low velocity and temperature as compare to plasma spray micro cracks was observed on lamellae structure. Depending upon the feed rate of HAP Rod crystallinities of 10%70% were obtained. The strengthen was observed more than 20 MPa. Scratch test was also conduct to check the adhesion strength of HA rod coating. Coating was characterize by scanning electron microscope, Ca/P ratio and phase analysis of HAP Rod and coating by X-Ray Diffraction. More porous coating was achieved with Rod HA coating. EDS is used to measure the composition of Rod HA and coating.
