Abstract: |
In recent years, Plasma Spray Physical-Vapor Deposition (PS-PVD) was widely investigated to manufacture thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) on turbine blades. The yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) produced by PS-PVD have shown low thermal conductivity and excellent thermal cycling lifetime. However, the YSZ TBCs by PS-PVD can be easily infiltrated by molten CMAS at elevated temperatures, and also the lifetime will be reduced significantly. This paper will discuss the protective coatings for YSZ TBCs against high-temperature corrosion produced by PS-PVD which developed recently in our group, including YAG coatings and micro-nano structured coatings.
