 Abstract:
Side-by-side particle temperature (Tp), particle velocity (Vp) measurements of a proprietary ceramic powder sprayed using a Sulzer-Metco 6P torch were made using the Accura G3 and DPV-2000. The goal of this experiment was to compare measurements of particle temperature (Tp), particle velocity (Vp) made using the DPV-2000 and Accura G3 over a range of torch operating conditions. A design of experiments approach was taken to insure that Tp, Vp measurements were made over a wide range of torch operating space. Two designed experiments, one for each measurement instrument, were conducted in parallel over the course of one day. This helped to ensure that differences in the Tp, Vp data were in fact due to differences in sensor performance. This paper reports the data from the two side-by-side experiments and compares the Tp, Vp data from the two instruments.
