 Abstract:
Times are over when companies placed advertisements like: ?Looking for painters? although they needed Thermal Sprayers. In 1995 the EWF Guideline ?Education and training of European Thermal Spraying Specialists (ETSS)? was released. 1998 the EWF guideline for the education and training of European Thermal Sprayers (ETS) followed. These guidelines also involve the ISO standards of the Thermal spraying co-ordinator (ISO 13214) and the Approval Testing of the Thermal Sprayer (ISO 14918). Meanwhile the European education and training of thermal spraying personnel according EWF standards is in great demand, as well as the approval testing of the thermal sprayer. SLV Munich as a branch of the German Welding Institute (DVS) looks back to more than ten years of activities in educating, training and qualifying thermal spraying personnel. Of course, these activities are combined with quality management according ISO 9000, ISO 14922 standards and GTS-guidelines. All these different guidelines and standards are tied to, refer to and partially require each other. Thermal Spraying Companies are using these standards and guidelines more and more as a tool to get an acknowledged quality management system to meet the increasing demands of trade and industry of high quality thermal sprayed coatings.
