| Abstract: |
Consumption of highly-alloyed cored wires is increasing constantly because these consumables offer possibilities, both metallurgical and in application, that complete those of solid wires and manual metal arc welding electrodes. The chemical, petrochemical and food processing industries, civil and naval shipbuilding and other activities, constantly demand new developments that the welding industry endeavours to supply under the best conditions. Stainless steel cored wires are on hand for gas shielded arc welding, open arc welding and submerged arc welding. One distinguishes rutile, metal-cored and basic flux cored stainless steel wires, all of which cover various applications, as well for joining as for cladding. A comprehensive range of stainless flux-cored wires is now readily available from a number of manufacturers. These consumables are being currently used for welding the most various stainless and heat-resisting steels as will appear in next revision of the EN ISO 17633 standard.
