 Abstract:
Thermal barrier coatings (TBC) are protective and developed material systems. TBCs include of metalic substrate, a top coating made of ceramic, a bond coating made of metallic and also thermally gradient oxide (TGO) coat which occurs during the coating process and advances on the service by means of bond coating getting oxide. In this study, microstructure of the produced layers and mechanical properties in TBCs were investigated. Inconel 600 substrates with TBCs composed of YSZ top (ZrO2 + 8 wt.% Y2O3) and YSZ/Al2O3 with CoNiCrAlY bond coats are investigated. For the deposition of CoNiCrAlY bond coats HVOF technique was used. The ceramic top layer was produced by APS. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the coatings discussed and compared. The microstructure investigations include optical and scanning electron microscopy, EDXS and XRD and microhardnes tests. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the coatings discussed and compared.
