Abstract: |
MCrAlY is widely used as bond coat in thermal barrier coatings to withstand high temperature oxidation and hot corrosion. Nowadays, cold gas spray is an attractive technology due to obtaining dense coatings, without oxidation and maintaining the initial powder microstructure. These characteristics are interesting for bond coat application. In the current study, MCrAlY coatings (M=Ni, Co) were prepared and characterized to achieve a more efficient bond coat reaching improved behaviors. Measurements of deposition efficiency and microstructure observation (using optical microscope and SEM) were carried out to optimize the conditions of each technology. The optimized coatings were used to evaluate the as-sprayed oxidation degree, structural changes and bonding strength and the results compared with those obtained by other technologies. Thermal and corrosion behavior were also evaluated.
