 Abstract:
In this study, the nanostructured YSZ agglomerates with no heat treatment were internally fed into a regular water cooled anode nozzle and a lengthened gun barrel without water cooling respectively. The coatings were deposited via atmospheric plasma method and the differences in coating microstructure, especially the characteristics of the nano-zone were investigated by optical microscope (OM) and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). The results show that the porous nanostructured YSZ agglomerates with no heat treatment could be effectively deposited for both conditions. The unsintered agglomerates were favorable for developing more porous nano zone with finer grains. Larger amount of nano structure that resemble to the original agglomerates were preserved when fed through the lengthened gun barrel without water cooling.
