 Abstract:
Gas burner is the key component of coal-water slurry gasifier system. However, due to the sulfidation at high temperature, gas burner often fails in advance, which affects the stable operation of the system. In this work, sulfidation corrosion resistance of plasma-sprayed Al-Mo coating is investigated. After deposition the sulfidation behavior of Al-Mo coatings is compared with Mo coatings and Inconel 600 alloy at temperatures of 973K, 1073K and 1173K, respectively. The sulfidation tests show that Al-Mo coatings protect the substrate better than Mo coatings against high-temperature corrosion in sulfur vapor. Plasma sprayed Al-Mo coatings are promising candidates for corrosion protection of steels under the coal gasification condition.
