 Abstract:
WC10Co4Cr coatings were deposited by the detonation thermal spraying on the low carbon steels substrate with and without preheating and its bonding strength were also measured. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) was applied to analyze the structured powder feedstock and coatings. The results demonstrated that the coating shows higher density. The particle flattening behavior becomes higher and the porosity of coatings reduced after 300 preheating of the substrate. The hardness of coating increased slowly along the thickness direction from interface to surface of the coating for the no preheating substrate. The tensile test results show that the bonding strength on the condition of preheating is 73-80 MPa, which is higher than that coating deposited at room temperature. Therefore, preheating substrate can improve the microstructure and bonding strength of the coatings.
