 Abstract:
A novel plasma torch with converging-diverging anode and nozzle used in low pressure plasma spray (LPPS) and very low pressure plasma spray (VLPPS) has been developed, which is expected to improve the quality of the coating. The emission line intensities from Ar`neutral species were carried out using emission spectroscope diagnostic, and electron temperatures were obtained using Boltzmann plots method. The plasma torch efficiency and electrical characteristic were analyzed. The results indicated that an increase in input power considerably increased the electron temperature, while the increase of detection distance decreased the electron temperature. The torch efficiency increased a little bit with the increase of the current intensity, and the gas composition has a great effect on the current-voltage characteristic.
