 Abstract:
In the present study, Al2O3 and Al2O3-Y2O3 coatings were deposited by atmospheric plasma spraying. The microstructure, some mechanical properties and dry sliding wear behavior of the coatings were examined. The results showed that the mass ratio of ±-Al2O3/³-Al2O3 for Al2O3 coating was 0.08, however, the corresponding value of Al2O3-Y2O3 composite coating was 0.53. Which may be related to the improved mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the composite coating. In addition, the tribological examination shows that the friction coefficients of composite coating/graphite pairs are more stable, and exhibiting better wear resistance, which may be related to the formation of more effective and stable graphite transfer film on the surface of the coating subjected to abrasion. Especially, the Al2O3-Y2O3 composite coating was proved to be a worthwhile wear resistant coating.
