 Abstract:
In the present study, FeCrAlMoRe and FeCrAlMoHf coatings were successfully fabricated on the AISI 1020 steel substrate by high velocity arc spraying process. Hot corrosion resistance behaviors of these coatings were evaluated in a mixed molten salt of Na2SO4 + K2SO4 at 973 K for 156 h. The results showed that both of the coatings have a dense lamellar structure with a low porosity less than 3 %. (Fe, Ni, Cr), FeAl, Fe3Al were identified as the main phases in the as-sprayed coatings. Both of the coatings exhibited an excellent hot corrosion resistance performance, which was much higher than that of the AISI 1020 steel substrate. The values of the parabolic rate constant kp for both of the coatings have the same order of magnitude. The Cr2O3 protective scale, which formed on the surface of these corroded coatings, serves as an effective diffusion barrier between the coatings and mixed molten salts.
