 Abstract:
The NiCrAl coating was plasma-sprayed on carbon steel to examine the corrosion resistance performance by electrochemistry and autoclave test in carbon dioxide (CO2) environment. As contrast, the corrosion performance of super 13Cr was also studied. The results show that the corrosion rate of NiCrAl coating is much lower than super 13Cr, which means that the CO2 corrosion resistance of the carbon steel can be improved dramatically by NiCrAl coating. The result of electrochemistry is in accordance with the autoclave test result. Because of the connected porosity within the coating, a thin film consisted of corrosion product was formed at the interface between carbon steel and the coating during the autoclave test. The connected porosity of the coating was examined by the electrochemistry test.
