 Abstract:
In this paper, the development and characterization of decorative coatings on steel substrates are presented. The coating is performed by cold spray technique on different steel substrates with a non-regular surface aiming to retrieve their original superficial properties. The main attention is dedicated on the optimization of the deposition process selecting the most appropriate process parameters (i.e. velocity of the deposition, etc.) for all the considered substrates. The feasibility of the procedure in case of non-conformal substrates can be demonstrated. Dense and uniform coated layers free of oxides and other inclusions were obtained using a solid-state coating process at low temperature, important aspect in case of the employment of low melting point alloy as coating material.
