 Abstract:
Laser cladding is considered to be a good method for the preparation of NiCrBSi self-fluxing alloy with reinforcement by tungsten carbide with high abrasive wear resistance. Different parameters especial the content of reinforcement influence the mechanical properties of the coatings.

In this study abrasive wear resistance of claddings from NiCrBSi self-fluxing alloy with reinforcement by tungsten carbide (up to 80 vol.%) and pure tungsten (up to 50 vol.%) was compared. For this purpose samples of metal matrix composite were cladded by diode laser and their structure and the microstructure, hardness of the coatings were investigated. Finally, the coatings are subjected to abrasion test according to ASTM G65 and their wear resistance was compared with alternative claddings.
