 Abstract:
Suspension plasma spraying as a new promising process allows the deposition of finely structured coatings with improved properties, due to the injection of sub-micrometer particles by suspensions. In the study, the nano-structured YSZ powders were injected axially into a bi-cathode plasma torch at low pressure. The microstructure and thermal properties of resultant coatings were analyzed. The results indicated effectively heating made the coatings contain a lot of nano-sized particles and splats with high volume nano-voids. The nano-structured microstructure were in great favor of reducing the thermal conductivity and improving the thermal shock resistance
