 Abstract:
WC is a well-known material used to increase the wear resistance of iron-based composite materials which show a favorable wettability with WC particles. In this work, two different technologies, i.e. the cold spray (CS) and the selective laser melting (SLM), were used to fabricate WC/18Ni-300 composites, and the comparison of the microstructure and tribological behavior was performed. Aiming to determine the phase transformation during the two processes, XRD tests were carried out on the powders and the elaborated composites. The microstructure and the surface roughness were also characterized. In addition, the tribological behaviors of the two composites and the strengthening mechanism of WC were also studied.
