HVOF system technology and coating centers for the treatment of ultra-fine powders for the internal and outer coating.

 Abstract:
The HVOF system technology for the treatment of fine and ultra-fine powders reached at a high level of the state of the technology und allows the coating of critical components either internal and external coating.

Applications are, for example, small turbine blades of helicopter turbines, which require smooth MCrAlY coating. In addition, HVOF internal and external coatings are realized in plastics industry such as extrusion screws and cylinder bores with ultra-fine powder <10 µm.

The article describes the requirements of fine and ultra-fine powders for the system technology and the state of the technology. Full-automated solutions for the coating of turbine blades will be shown and torch rotating and non rotating system technology for the internal and external coating will be presented. Results of typical ID/OD coatings like MCrAlY and WC-CoCr will be discussed.
