 Abstract:
The study will present initial attempts of cold spraying of sol gel produces powders on polymer substrate. The feedstock material was produced with sol-gel method in two variants: with and without amino groups. These groups have high affinity to polymer materials and are supposed to improve bond strength of coatings on polymer substrates. Moreover, the initial ceramic SiO2 powders were mixed with polymer to improve deposition behavior. The feedstock was sprayed with low pressure cold spray Dymet 413 on two chosen polymer substrates: polyamide 6 and polycarbonate. The main goal was to assess influence of additional groups on bonding behavior with substrate. The presence of amino groups was assessed with Raman spectroscopy before and after spraying process. The bond strength was investigated with scratch test and compared between coatings sprayed with different initial feedstock material. The coatings microstructure was studied on cross-section with SEM microscopy. Moreover, the influence of spraying process on structure of initial material was investigated with XRD method. Finally conclusions have been drawn.
