 Abstract:

The hydraulic runners or ship propellers are exposed to cavitation wear and normally these components are welded by electric processes on recovery services. The temperature and heat produced by the weld affect the material of fabrication of these components, in special the martensitic stainless steel ASTM A743 CA6NM, reducing the toughness. The thermal spray process appears as an alternative to this recovery procedure, since the heat on the substrate is lower than previous processes of weld. The FeMnCrSi alloys deposited by ASP or HVOF processes are on development as a cheaper alternative to the alloys historically applied to resist to cavitation, containing Co. This work presents the comparative of characteristics and properties of FeMnCrSi coatings obtained by ASP and HVOF processes. Were evaluated morphology, hardness, adherence, and cavitation resistance of them.
