 Abstract:

Itria stabilized Zirconia powders (YSZ) have been used in a generated way to generate thermal barrier coatings (TBC). Such coatings are of great importance in gas turbines and that help protect from metal substrate. In this article, the effect of variations in the grinding parameters in the particle size distribution and the morphology of large non-commercial powders (approximately 1mm) is presented. Likewise, the microstructure and composition of the powders obtained will be evaluated. The final powder conditions will be compared with commercially available powders, to validate the use of conventional grinding as a method of preparation and conditioning of YSZ powders.
