 Abstract:
Due to good performance in abrasive and sliding wear and enhanced oxidation behavior, composite coatings based on metal matrix containing a hardener and solid lubricants are becoming more and more popular to be used in industrial applications, where the material is exposed to high temperature and friction. Within the scope of this study, composite coatings with different components were deposited by Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS). Multi-criteria optimization using statistical design of experiments (DoE) have been carried out in order to determine the adequate spraying parameters for different composite coatings. The formation mechanisms of these coatings were discussed.
The produced coatings have been analyzed and their properties (microstructure, microhardness, composition, surface roughness) investigated.
