 Abstract:
Ultrahightemperature ceramics boride based coating prepared on SiCcoated C/C composites by plasma spraying method can effectively protect carbon/carbon (C/C) composites with inner SiC coating from ablation. As powder materials for plasma sprayed coating, boride based powder was produced by spray drying agglomeration granulation. Then the agglomerated powder was densified by plasma densification treatment process and the effect of plasma densification process parameters on powder properties was investigated. After plasma densification treatment, the loose density of powder is significantly increased by 21%~35% and the liquidity is improved by 17%~30% compared with the agglomerated powder. Particle strength of boride based powder also has a significant improvement after plasma densification. In addition, the ablation performance of the plasma sprayed coating was investigated and the anti-ablative mechanism of the coating was discussed.
