 Abstract:
Cu-Zn based brazing metals as brasses are widely used for steel joints brazing. Some difficulties are met in cases of copper-steel joints. Silver brazing metals are used when low brazing temperature to avoid annealing or reheating of steel is required. Cu-Zn alloys can substitute silver ones if melting temperature is lower than 900°C and allowed comparably level of joint properties. There is two ways to decrease melt temperature of alloys: alloying with Sn and Mn. 55Cu-Zn-5Sn and 44Cu-Zn-10Mn-4 Sn alloys have become the objects of investigation. The addition of tin allows to decreasing of ductility with increasing of tensile strength. The results of structure studies, mechanical tests of brazing metal and joints are presented in this work. The optimization of Sn content involves achievement of low brazing temperature equally with high level of mechanical properties.
