 Abstract:
In aerospace applications, materials with high strength to weight ratios along with properties such as excellent tensile strength, fatigue strength and creep resistance in combination with low density are needed. Except Al alloys, for the most demanding structures and components, in accordance with the required properties, titanium alloys particularly Ti-6Al-4V is the most widely used. Present work demonstrates the enhanced mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, deposited by CSAM designated for utilisation in aircraft industry for structural components. The influence of the feedstock powder morphology and the post treatment process on the mechanical properties and microstructure of the deposited Ti-6Al-4V alloy were investigated.
