 Abstract:
Formed in 1994, VES Ltd have been at the front end of design and manufacturing of Helium/Hydrogen Leak Detection Equipment. OptVol Technology is a new development for leak testing of brazed components to comply with ever tightening legislation. VES undertook initial concept and design in early 2017, where the goal was to address the market requirements for 1) Better machine throughput and 2) Better sustainability. This paper highlights the results of a three-year study, that found 47% reduction in Helium used, a 67% reduction in pump oil used, a 92% reduction in energy consumed and 3-time smaller footprint while improving on typical leak test cycle times by circa 10%. The theoretical analysis completed by our in-house technical and innovation staff, which has been corroborated by hardware testing in the UK, has allow us to conclude that OptVol Technology has achieved the results it set out to accomplish.
