 Abstract:
Common technology for the production of automotive heat exchanger units and for HVAC&R products is the usage of multi-micro-port extruded tubes (MPEs). Performance requirements for these MPE tubes are continuously increasing e.g. to best serve the automotive industry for light weight cars and energy saving. Extruded profiles with latest designs using an increased number of ports and thus minimized wall thicknesses as well as inner enhancements have been developed and production methods established. These show very high potential for an outperforming heat exchanging efficiency. In the framework of this paper examples of such high performance MPE and die designs will be shown, compared and limits concerning the design as well as performance discussed.
