 Abstract:
The role of flux in Ethylene Glycol-based coolants heat exchanger systems is being investigated. The ASTM D7933 have been used as the base method to try and trigger reactions in the systems. An experimental set up was used that in situ could monitor the pressure build up during the test as well as monitoring color changes in the coolants.
Standard fluxed brazed components were compared to TRILLIUM® Lean components and interesting differences could be seen for some of the coolants where the low flux levels in TRILLIUM® Lean makes it possible to avoid violent reactions building over pressures in the cooling loops.
The coolants were analyzed before and after the test to try to capture the different reactions that took place.
