 Abstract:
Automobile manufacturers have increased the durability, efficiency, and longevity requirements for heat exchangers in the battery or fuel cell cooling circuit. The aluminum heat exchanger industry has identified lower levels of residual brazing flux within heat exchangers to be significant to achieving the new requirements, as well as passivating the internal surfaces. This presentation will consider the chemistry involved in the residual flux as well as methods of cleaning and coating to maintain the heat exchanger efficiency throughout the life of the vehicle.
