 Abstract:
This study examines Al2O3 coatings sprayed with common commercial APS technique in variety of spray parameter combinations. The coating?s appearance depends on spray distance and plasma gas flow as well as electric power and powder size. In order to demonstrate changes in the structure of Al2O3 coatings, the method of Cu ? electroplating was employed.
From the results of SEM observing of copper deposited coating, the distribution of cupper in the microstructure of the electroplated Al2O3 coating revealed clearly a curious complicated structure. The microstructure did not show the typical lamella with a flattered particle and revealed the new structure. The coatings? structure mainly depends on the powder size. By employing Cu-electroplating, the new structure of APS sprayed Al2O3 coatings could be detected.
