 Abstract:
Manufacturing of diamond abrasive wheel has been achieved through kinetic spray technique to simplify the manufacturing process and improve the mechanical properties. However, the size of initial diamond particles is reduced by fracturing in between the feedstock during the process. Uniform distribution of diamond particle in the coating layer is of significant importance to obtain mechanical properties for diamond abrasive wheel. In this study, optimized Ni thin film which is coated around surface of diamond particles was used to prevent the fracture of diamond particles and improve the mechanical properties. Thickness of Ni thin film was optimized by ABAQUS 6.67 finite element analysis software as 3 when mean size of bronze particles was about 20 . Fraction and size distribution of the diamond particle in the coating were analyzed through SEM and Image analyzer method.
