 Abstract:
The composition WC-(W,Cr)2C-7%Ni (often used commercial description: WC-20%?CrC?-7%Ni) belongs to the standard compositions for the preparation of thermally sprayed coatings by high velocity oxy-fuel spraying (HVOF). Surprisingly, this composition was poorly investigated in the past. In this paper, coating properties of coatings sprayed from five different powders by two different HVOF processes (JP-5000 and K2 systems) are discussed. The coatings microstructures were studied by optical microscopy and SEM of metallographically prepared cross-sections. Emphasis is given to the phase composition of the powders and the coatings and the phase changes during the spray processes. Hardness and abrasion wear resistance of these coatings were determined.
