| Abstract: |
Nanotechnologies and surfaces have become more and more fashionable over the last five years and many papers have been published based on the use of Thermal Spray, both materials and processes to produce coatings. This covers the use of fine particles in existing powders e.g. the use of fine WC particles in WC-Co powders, to the spraying of solutions and precursors to produce nano particles in-situ.
This paper reviews the position of nanotechnology & surfaces with respect to those areas of thermal spray where nano can be expected to provide both an economic and technological advantage while respecting health and safety issues.
