 Abstract:
The application of the high velocity oxi fuel (HVOF) sprayed coatings is one of the possible alternatives to decrease the power loss in engine, caused by friction between piston, piston rings and cylinder. HVOF WC-%13wt Co coatings are suitable for decreasing friction and wear. In this paper, the sliding wear properties of WC-Co coatings are evaluated by sliding wear test according to ASTM G-133 under different loadings in dry and lubricated conditions. Wear track profiles are observed and weight loss determined. The weight loss and wear track width are increased after 500m. The wear track depth increases with increasing loading. The results have shown that the higher temperature (>100 °C) and higher load caused higher weight loss as compared to room temperature.
