 Abstract:
Platinum thermal spray coating is applied for the glass melting material to keep the glass quality and to prevent the erosion of refractory-bricks.
In the recent glass manufacturing field, because the high qualification and diversification of glass is advanced, the high corrosion resistance against the melting glass beyond 1600 degree C is required for the material of glass melting furnace. Since the highest corrosion resistance material against the melting glass is platinum, large amount of platinum is used for the production of liquid crystal glass.
As the cost of platinum material is drastically high and the mechanical strength of it is low, the platinum coating technology has developed for the refractory-bricks.
However, platinum thermal spray coating has been applied hardly to the refractory-bricks by the delamination which is caused by the large heat expansion difference between the refractory-bricks and platinum.
For the high hard-refractory-bricks to which the general surface textured treatment (e.g. sand-blast treatment) is not effective, we developed prevention method for the delamination of thermal spray coating by applying the most suitable asperities to the surface. In this study, we report an application example of this development technology.
