 Abstract:
This work shows resent results from the technological optimisation of wire arc spraying systems. The investigations were carried out with respect to gas and thermodynamic criteria, fluid mechanic, electrical engineering and material science. Basing on these holistic considerations the work is focusing on the application of high velocity gas jets. The applied spray guns are modified with an opened nozzle design (arc formation behind the nozzle exit). It is shown, how the new developments can be integrated into marketable spray guns. For a further improvement of the process a new strategy, the application of modulated and pulsed gas jets is introduced. This concept is combined with a defined manipulation of the current and voltage signal. These results as well as optimised sprayed coatings are applied for the project Landesexzellenz-Initiative Eniprod.
