 Abstract:
Low temperature HVOF (LT-HVOF) process finds its potential applications for the preparation of high performance metallic coatings with lower oxygen content and lower porosity due to its lower plume temperature and higher plume velocity than those of conventional HVOF process. WC-10Co4Cr coatings were prepared on 316L substrate via LT-HVOF process with fine WC-10Co4Cr powder (5-15 ¼m) as feedstock at various spraying distances in this paper. The effects of spraying distance on coating microstructure and fundamental properties (including micro-hardness, fracture toughness, and etc.) for LT-HVOF sprayed WC-10Co4Cr coatings were presented. Finally these effects were discussed by means of the characteristics of WC-10Co4Cr splat on polished 316L substrate at various spraying distances.
