 Abstract:
This work focuses on the properties of Cu-Ag alloys deposited by a Cold Spray process. Helium was used as the carrier gas and main gas to enhance the particles velocity. A closed loop circuit avoiding costly helium losses was implemented. Thus, high deposition efficiency, low porosity, low oxygen content and high mechanical properties were obtained for the deposited material.
Influence of the deposition parameters was studied regarding microstructure, mechanical properties (ultimate tensile strength (UTS), yield strength (YS), elongation, hardness) and the residual stress level in the material. Intensive work hardening mechanisms are involved by comparison with classically forged material allowing a large tailoring of the materials properties through specific heat treating.
