 Abstract:
A plasma sprayed coatings is generally of a lamellar structure. The formation procedure of coatings decides that the pores exist unavoidably in the coatings. The pores can generally be divided into three types on the basis of their dimensions, i.e. three-dimensional (3D) type, two-dimensional (2D) type and the micro-crack type, especially in ceramic deposits. Effect of pore size on the plasma sprayed coatings stress distribution is studied in the present work through using finite element analysis. Additionally, the coatings with different size of pores are obtained through deposited with different sizes of input particles. It can be found that length of 2D type pores is the main factor on the coating stress, compared with other size parameters of pores in the coating.
