Abstract: |
Bulge testing using a pressurized fluid to fracture the interface between bonded materials along with three-dimensional digital image correlation to measure the sample distortion caused by the applied fluid pressure have been applied to plasma sprayed metallic coatings. The interface energy release rate associated with the bonded materials is measured during the test. The testing of plasma sprayed zirconium and molybdenum onto stainless steel and a uranium alloy are presented. Comparisons between plasma sprayed materials and other layered structures are made.
