 Abstract:
Sub-microstructure characterization of WC-Co coatings obtained by high velocity air fuel spraying (HVAF) and additionally modified by 1 to 7 % wt. of TiC sub-micrometric particle was presented in this article. Previous investigations revealed that modification of WC-Co coatings by TiC has a strong influence on phase composition of obtained final coatings. Phase analysis by X-ray diffraction (XRD) method showed possibility of new Co-Ti phase formation as a results of interaction between Co matrix and TiC added particles. Additionally Co-Cx carbides can be formed. In order to explain the phenomena of new phases formation comparative studies on WC-Co + TiC sinters were conducted. More detailed analyzes of obtained materials using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were carried out. The reactions of new phases formation are explained in this work.
