 Abstract:
Cold spray has been widely applied for dimensional recovery of damaged parts due to its abilities to avoid local melting, oxidation and thermal stress with the feature of low temperature and high particle velocity. In order to obtain a flat coating surface after recovery and reduce extra machining process, the operating parameters need to be adapted according to deposit on various depths of damaged part. Thus, the study about the effects of operating parameters on coating profile is essential to obtain a desired coating thickness. In this study, experimental studies about the operating parameters such as spray speed, spray angle, spray distance, spray step, spray pass are made. The relationships between these parameters and single coating profile are analyzed as well as the deposition efficiency. Based on the results, a numerical modelling of coating profile based on the operating parameters is developed.
Due to the require for the variation of spray speed in order to obtain a desired coating thickness and coating surface, the relationship between the spray parameters especially the spray speed and the coating profile is essential.
