 Abstract:
Growing markets and emerging new applications are expanding the use of thermally sprayed ceramics in industrial markets. Greater performance expectations and competition are driving the need for improved and more cost effective coatings. Proper selection of material, process and equipment can greatly improve productivity yield and competitiveness. We will look at several examples demonstrating the impact pairing materials and processes in terms of coating performance and economics. The primary focus of the study is the cascaded arc plasma spraying of industrial ceramics and the relationship between particle size, deposition efficiency, coating density and relative cost.
