 Abstract:
Well known that oxidation resistance of thermal barrier coatings (TBC) depends on chemical composition, thickness, the rate of formation of TGO layer.
In this paper we studied the influence of presence and sequence of air and vacuum heat treatment on properties of TBC particularly on oxidation resistance. The parameters (temperature, pressure, duration and etc.) of air and vacuum heat treatment were unchanged. TBC system were sprayed on Ni-based substrate and consists of HVOF NiCo-based bond coat (BC) and APS yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) top coat. Isothermal heating test was used to determine effect of heat treatment presence and sequence on interdiffusion between bond layer and substrate and microstructural characteristics of bond coat and ceramic top coat. Before and after isothermal heating test cross-section of specimens were studied by SEM and EDX analyzes. Preliminary results demonstrated that oxidation resistance of TBC with APS-top layer and HVOF-bond layer can be improved by applying suitable sequence of heat treatment. Due to developed sequence of heat treatment TBCs service life increased up to 500 hours at 1100°C.
