 Abstract:
For mitigating the CMAS attack, a dense ±-Al2O3 overlay was in-situ synthesized on 7YSZ TBC. CMAS adsorbability of as-sprayed and Al-modified TBCs was investigated showing a lower adsorption mass on the Al-modified TBC. Additionally, CMAS spreadability on above both TBCs was studied indicating a smaller spreading area on the Al-modified TBC. During CMAS corrosion of the Al-modified 7YSZ coating, rich Al2O3 phase will accelerate formation of MgAl2O4 spinel. Besides, abundant Al2O3 phase will induce generation of CaAl2O4 spinel apart from gehlenite Ca2Al2SiO7. The results show that the Al-modified 7YSZ TBC has a better CMAS corrosion resistance than the as-sprayed TBC.
