Deposition of environmentally friendly cermets coating by thermal spray techniques |

Recently, cermet coatings with Co and Ni free matrix like Ti-based matrix have emerged as a less hazardous and more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional ones, which have known inhalation toxicity problems. The main target of this work is the production of Ni and Co free matrix cermets obtained by both HVOF and CGS as alternative to benchmarks. A complete characterization of the obtained coatings by both techniques has been done. CGS process let to conserve the initial structure and composition of the feedstocks, avoiding both oxidation and decarburization during their interaction with the jet stream, although higher hardness is obtained by HVOF. |
