 Abstract:
The study will present the influence of spraying conditions on residual stresses distribution in metal coatings deposited on polymers substrates. Three commercial powders were used (i) tin, (ii) aluminum and (iii) copper to obtain coatings on polyamide 6 substrate. The coatings were sprayed with different number of spraying passes. This allowed to assess the influence of reapiting temperature rises on bonding behavior on polymer substrates. The temperature during spraying was controlled using thermocouples and thermal camera. The residual stress was determined by hole drilling method and XRD in order to identify the stress profile through the coating thickness. The residual stress results obtained by these methods were compared. The coating microstructure was investigated using scanning electron microscopy. Moreover, mechanical properties of coatings hardness and bond strength were determined.
